The trip to the gas station is currently making every driver’s hair stand up. Fuel prices are more expensive than ever. It is understandable that very few people want to drive to the gas station voluntarily. For many, however, there is no alternative. The only option left is to bite the bullet and drive sparingly. We have attached how you can save fuel.
Tips to reduce fuel consumption
Even small adjustments to driving style can reduce fuel consumption. However, there are a few other points that drivers should consider.
Leave the car
You use the least amount of fuel if you simply leave the vehicle where it is. Just think about whether you would rather take the train or the bike. An investment in an e-bike is currently particularly worthwhile. With these, you can also cover longer distances relatively quickly.

Turn off the air conditioner
Turning off the air conditioner can reduce fuel consumption. Although the savings are small, you will still be able to cover a few more kilometers with one tank of fuel.
Reduce air resistance
Admittedly, there isn’t much you can do at this point. The more ergonomic a vehicle shape is, the lower the fuel consumption. Do not open the window or sunroof. Because this increases fuel consumption due to air resistance.
Avoid short trips
Fuel consumption is significantly higher over short distances than over long distances. Even if you drive sparingly. Therefore, if the distance is short, switch to a bicycle or an electric scooter.
Drive with foresight
If you drive with foresight, you will notice significant fuel savings. Take your foot off the accelerator early and, for example, let the car roll in gear for the last few hundred meters towards a town instead of braking abruptly just before it.

Optimize your driving style
To save gas and reduce fuel consumption, you need to change the way you drive. Accelerate fairly quickly, but don’t over rev the engine. Shift at 2,000 rpm and always keep the revs low. Only shift down a gear as soon as the engine starts to jerk. Also, don’t take your foot off the gas pedal all the time, but try to keep a constant speed.
Use energy-saving tires
The tires can have a major impact on fuel consumption. Energy-saving tires are a bit more expensive to buy, but they pay off. With optimized tires you can save up to 0.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. This means that what appears to be an expensive tire with very low rolling resistance can more than pay for itself over its useful life.
Slightly increase tire air pressure
You should check the air pressure in the tires regularly. If this is only 0.3 bar too low, the rolling resistance increases, which leads to increased consumption. You can increase the air pressure slightly to reduce fuel consumption somewhat. But only increase it moderately and very slightly. 0.2-0.3 bar, nothing more.

Reduce overall weight
The less a vehicle weighs, the lower the consumption. Does your car have a spare tire? Replace it with a tire repair kit. This requires less space and is significantly lighter, which will also reduce fuel consumption. Remove anything unnecessary that weighs heavily from the vehicle.
Switch to an electric car
Although electricity prices have also skyrocketed, they are still significantly cheaper than with a petrol or diesel engine. You should only consider this point if you were about to buy a new vehicle anyway. So give an electric car a try.
Follow all of our fuel saving tips and you will feel a real difference. However, you should avoid driving as much as possible.
